Aisha Bint Abu Bakr
Aisha was the wife of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and the daughter of Abu Bakr As-Siddiq. She is one of the most renowned Mothers of the believers and is considered one of the greatest scholars of Islam.
Many narrations of the Prophet ﷺ are narrated by Aisha due to her proximity to the Messenger and her great understanding of the Quran and Islam.
Allah's Apostle said, "The superiority of 'Aisha over other women is like the superiority of Tharid to other meals."
Narrated Anas bin Malik, in Sahih Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 57, Number 114
If the knowledge of 'Aishah were to be gathered up and compared to the knowledge of all the other wives of the Prophet and all other women, 'Aishah's knowledge would be greater.
Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri, (Al-Hakim, Al-Mustadrak, vol. 4, p. 11)
The Prophet ﷺ was once asked, “O Allah’s Messenger! Who amongst all the people is the dearest to you?”He replied, “Aisha”.
The Companion then asked, “Out of the men?”
He replied: “Her father.”
Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3662; Muslim, 2384
Allah's Apostle said, "O Aisha! This is Gabriel sending his greetings to you." I said, "Peace, and Allah's Mercy be on him." 'Aisha added: The Prophet used to see things which we used not to see.
Narrated 'Aisha, in Sahih Bukhari, Volume 8, Book 73, Number 220
Many companions would always go to Aisha for consultation in religious matters, her intellect and scholastic abilities are a role model for women. Aisha’s status in Islam breaks the stereotype that only men can be scholars of Islam.
